Welcome to the Louisiana Trans Name Change Fund!

This is a new fund co-administered by Louisiana Trans Advocates’ Noir Name Change fund and by Real Name Campaign NOLA. The fund is available through two grants, from the national organizations Solidaire Network and Trans Lifeline. The grant covers fees related to obtaining name and gender marker changes on your identification.

Thank you for filling out this application so that we can learn more about your request, it will take 10-20 minutes to complete. Any information that you choose to share will help us distribute the available funds as equitably as possible. Due to limited funds, we cannot assist with legal fees.

We reserve 75% of the funds for BIPOC applicants, and are also prioritizing funds for applicants who live in rural areas, who are living with disabilities, and/or who have unstable housing.

Our Missions:

In the various forms that showing up for our community can take on, some of the most impactful work that we’ve been a part of ensures that it is rooted in and centers community. In thinking of the next project to put forth, our team wanted to bring an offering to Trans Louisianians that was practical, that would eliminate barriers. We wanted to bring something to the table that folks needed.

This project is a long time coming, and has had various versions over the years, but we are pleased to announce the Real Name Campaign, Nom Noir, & Louisiana’s Trans Advocates’ 2021 Name Change Fund, funded by the Solidaire Foundation and TransLifeLine. We reserve 75% of the funds for BIPOC applicants, and are also prioritizing funds for applicants who live in rural areas, who are living with disabilities, and/or who have unstable housing. Funds are limited, and due to the varying costs across the state, we can only offer an approximation of how many folks we will be able to help, which is roughly 35-45 people.

I want to help!
