A sign to remember Vontashia Bell
and a sign to find her killer

Vontashia Bell, an 18-year-old transgender woman, was found outside by Shreveport police officers in that area of the Cedar Grove neighborhood when responding to a shooting, which was called in by a nearby resident. Bell was wearing a black dress and was shot multiple times in the upper body. There's no description available of a possible suspect or suspects, but police say a light-colored, four-door sedan might be tied to the case.

Zero arrests have been made in Bell's killing. Her death remains a continuous conversation for those dedicated to the case, with hopes that whoever is responsible is found.

"And the reason being is she needs justice," said Rebecca Norris. Norris was the Louisiana Trans Advocates (LTA) Shreveport chapter president at the time of Bell's murder. "Somebody out there killed her. And it doesn’t matter that she’s transgender, it matters that she was a human life."
